Toilet Ek Prem Katha is a Super Hit, Becomes the fifth Consecutive 100 Crore Grosser of Akshay Kumar in Last Two Years.
Toilet Ek Prem Katha is Akshay Kumar’s fifth Consecutive 100 CR grosser in last 2 years and emerged as a Super Hit at the Box Office. The first week was extremely good for the movie boosted by the Independence Day and Krishna Janamashtami holidays and of course the failure of Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal, it made 96 CR and was looking certain to cross the 150 CR mark in its lifetime run. But the drop in the second weekend indicates that it may not reach 140 CR even. At present the movie has earned 106 CR in 9 days and for sure it’ll be the highest grossing film of Akshay Kumar’s career beating Rowdy Rathore which made 134 CR five years back. Despite the heavy drop we must give credit to this film for bringing in money to the otherwise dried film Industry which was ailing with the debacles of Tubelight, Jagga Jasoos and Jab Harry Met Sejal. Toilet may not be a universal critical success but at least it made money though not much. It has proved Akshay Kumar as one of the most bankable star of the industry again after the 100 CR hits in the form of Airlift, Houseful 3, Rustom And Jolly LLB 2.
In the overseas like all previous films of Akshay Kumar the movie is not performing well and will wrap up at $5-6 Million USD mark. All in all Toilet Ek Prem Katha is a good news for Hindi cinema and now the film industry need a big 200 CR grosser as soon as possible. After Bahubali: The conclusion which was a Telugu dubbed one, no film has made any splash in Hindi. All eyes is on Golmaal:4 and Tiger Zinda Hai.
