TAXAB launches a campaign seeking population control law in India along with a theme song.
Taxpayers’ Association of Bharat (TAXAB), a platform for citizen-driven movement for population stabilization, launched a nationwide campaign demanding population control law in India on 10th July 2017. Addressing the media through a recorded message, Green Revolution pioneer M.S. Swaminathan stressed that happy families did not produce many children. Commonwealth Games Gold medallist wrestler Geeta Phogat was one of the celebrities who lent support to the cause and vowed not to have more than two children herself. She was accompanied by her husband Pawan Kumar, also a wrestler.
TAXAB is a group of Taxpayers formed to study, understand and evaluate the issues and threats that India, as a country, is facing due to a burgeoning population.
“After almost two years of rigorous study and data mining, TAXAB arrived at the conclusion that the root cause of all the ills afflicting Indian society is our ever increasing population. Until now, our population debate was restricted to government committees and population related NGOS only. But TAXAB is set to change this with our citizen-led attempt to reach out to the common folks of the country to educate them about the dangers/threats of over-population,” TAXAB President Manu Gaur said.
As part of the campaign, a special theme song ‘Main Bharat Bol Raha Hoon’ sung by leading artists, including Kailash Kher, Suresh Wadekar, and Shaan, was also launched on the occasion. This song has been composed as an urgent plea by Bharat to its citizens asking it to be saved from the dangers of overpopulation.
Speaking of the support that TAXAB has received so far, Gaur informed that almost 400,000 people have joined the outfit by giving missed call at its number 8510022222.
He further informed that TAXAB has also written to Chief Ministers and Governors of all the states and Union Territories reminding them of item No. 20A of the Concurrent list of 7th Schedule of our Constitution, which facilitates State Governments to enact a Law/Policy on the Subject.
Giving details on TAXAB’s future actions, Gaur said, “In next 3 months, we plan to start mass youth outreach program by visiting all the universities and centers of learning across the country through its volunteer force of 10000 volunteers spread in 650 districts of the country.”
Famous actor and superstar Ajay Devgan also supported the cause and sent a message to the people of the country to support the campaign.
