Sultan did well in its second week grossing 48.80 crore nett and taking its two week total to 277.96 crore nett. Its all set to cross Dhoom 3 all India figure of 284.31 crore to achieve the third highest figure ever after PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The collections saw a drop as against other three huge grossers mentioned but that was always going to happen as it had an extented 5 days weekend and almost lost its steam from the 7th day itself. Second week breakup as follows :-
Fri – 7.43 cr
Sat – 11.46 cr
Sun – 15.18 cr
Mon – 4.08 cr
Tue – 3.72 cr
Wed – 3.42 cr
Thu – 3.51 cr
Total: ₹ 277.96 cr

The film still has the chance of reaching 300 crore nett in India but if the third week drop will be more than 60% from second week then it’ll be difficult for the film to touch the feat.
The second week collections are the sixth highest of all time behind PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dhoom 3, 3 idiots and Bajirao Mastani. Despite PK had Lingaa, Hobbit and Exodus in competition and Bajrangi Bhaijaan had Bahubali and Drishyam still those films had huge second weeks, best in the history while Sultan lost cream even before Kabaali’s release it clearly shows the word of mouth is certainely not best in last 15 years. It was all Salman and Eid hysteria. Its safe to say 3 Idiots, PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan had best word of mouth in last one and half decade.
In overseas Sultan added $4.19 Million USD more in the second week to take its two weeks total to $21.65 Million USD (145.49 cr) which is remarkable.
Great Grand Masti had a forgettable first week of only 14.23 cr and its a huge set back for the adult comedy genre in the industry. Leaked print and preponed release date added more woes to this already dull comedy.

We’ll be back next friday with all the insights of Box office again, stay tuned.
