Shakuntala Devi, Laxmi Bomb & Gulabo Sitabo To Release On OTT Platforms.
Shakuntala Devi, Laxmi Bomb & Gulabo Sitabo To Release On OTT Platforms: The entire world is under lockdown, those of us who are privileged enough to stay at home are doing that and helping in reducing the spread of coronavirus. Everything is obviously shut down and we don’t even know when things will go back to how they were but everyone is trying their best to make the best of the situation. Movie theatres are also hugely affected by the lockdown and even after it’s lifted, we don’t know when everything will actually go back to normal. Almost every new movie’s release has been postponed and it sucks to not be able to watch movies that we were looking forward to for months but that is a very small problem considering everything going. But still, since people really need any new form of entertainment to act as an incentive to do the bare minimum by staying inside, it’s great that Bollywood has turned to OTT platforms to release movies.
We saw that happened with Angrezi Medium as it didn’t do that well on the box office due to the lockdown but performed well after releasing on Disney+ Hotstar. However, movies like Sooryavanshi and 83 won’t make it onto digital platforms just yet since they will obviously attract huge crowds whenever they are released. So, here’s the list of movies that will be released online soon, and some movies that will also most likely come online instead of theatres.
Central Government forced the lockdown on 24th March and since then there has been a chain of series, now the filmmakers are looking forward to releasing their films on OTT platforms. Amazon Prime video shared the news on their social media platform that Vidya Balan starrer Shakuntala Devi biopic directed by Anu Menon & Gulabo Sitabo starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan directed by Shoojit Sircar is now going to premiere on Amazon Prime Video instead of cinemas. Gulabo Sitaboo is slated to release on 12 June 2020 & the dates of Shakuntala Devi are yet to be announced.
Akshay Kumar’s comedy-horror movie Laxmi Bomb was supposed to be out in theatres on May 22nd but since that’s not possible, the makers are currently in talks with Disney+ Hotstar for a digital release and it may very well come on the platform by June.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer comedy Ghoomketu is already streaming on the Zee5 app and millions of people have seen it in the last seven days. Surely OTT platforms are helping the drowning Bollywood industry of India.
