Ravichandran Ashwin: A Rising Cricketer.
Ravichandran Ashwin: The cricketing season of 2015 has ended mounting Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on top of the list of test bowlers. The year 2015 has been quite fruitful for India and Ashwin in test matches. India managed to win a test series in Srilanka after 28 years on the back of some superb bowling performances from Ashwin and Mishra. Then almost clean swept the topmost test team of the world. Once again Ashwin left south African batsmen clueless with his magical off-spin. Ashwin has really reinvented himself in 2015 and stats are the proof of this fact. Ashwin grabbed 62 wickets in 9 test matches. His focus more has been on off-spin which is his strength rather than trying too many things. If you manage to dismiss batting legend Kumar Sangakkara four times in a row, then certainly you are more than talented and surely the right person to talk about. Ashwin’s domination over left-hand batsmen spoilt the farewell test of Sangakkara. The dismissal of AB de Villiers in the second innings of the Nagpur Test was a classical dismissal for any off-spinner. Ashwin has proved himself in sub-continental conditions.
He together with Ravindra Jadeja forms of the most lethal spin combination which sometimes becomes almost unplayable on turning tracks of sub-continent. The fact can be justified by the thumping series win of India over South Africa as they both together managed to pick 54 wickets out of 70 wickets that fell. This is really a positive sign for India in Test matches. If Ashwin and Jadeja managed to carry forward their bowling performance in overseas conditions, then India has a serious chance to improve their overseas record.
