Preview: First Week of 2018 will Have a Cold Start at the Box Office with Pitch Perfect 3. Insidious The Last Key and Amazon Obhijaan.
First Week of 2018 will have a cold start at the Box Office with films like Pitch Perfect 3. Insidious The Last Key and Amazon Obhijaan because of cold waves, communal tension and no interest in the films, let’s find out how are the films.
The first week of a new year so lots should be expected when it comes to entertainment but we all live in a GREAT GRAND ILLUSION, because if it was not the case then Indian movie world would have been a better place.
Why is the first part of JANUARY considered a curse, especially in the Indian context, is beyond us at GD.
Many may argue that almost all who came in the 1st week have bitten the dust. Ok, point taken but how many have been quality cinema? Secondly, those released on Christmas don’t they continue to earn in January, so it’s not that the audience doesn’t watch it’s all in the mind.
Let a DANGAL or a TIGER USELESS HAI oops ZINDA HAI release in 1st 7 days and then everything will be put in their place be it superstition or planning and execution.
So till a quality movie releases, we shouldn’t be judgemental and fear what is not inevitable.
But when there are 33 crores or more GODS and increasing day by day expecting fear to be nowhere is being highly unrealistic in this world. So, all the moviegoers don’t fasten your seat belts till it’s 2nd week of January.
But all is not lost, there are still 3 releases this time two are quite big franchises in their own right but will they have any takers only time will tell.
1. AMAZON OBHIJAAN (Bengali movie dubbed in HINDI and 4 more languages)
DIRECTED BY – KAMLESHWAR MUKERJEE a certified doctor making his a directorial debut after a spate of writing for movies like MOUNTAINS OF THE MOON (2013), COCKPIT (2017), CLOUD-CAPPED STAR (2013) besides being an important part of acting in many like ARSHINAGAR (2015) etc. thus makes him an all-rounder in true sense.
It’s an action adventure of 140 mins but will it transform into all fun and rare not boredom that we’ll find out today, it has been a huge success in Bengal and that’s why fingers are crossed.
Starring DEV and a host of actors including international thus giving it a universal feel.
What’s tricky though is dubbed Bengali movies we couldn’t recollect when was last one to be seen. So, will it find any takers outside is like, to be frank mission impossible? But someone has to start, isn’t it?
Finally, if you have the time, frankly if TZH can eat your 3 hours of life then spending some more on AO may, in fact, turn out to be an amazing experience who know’s?
INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY
DIRECTED BY – ADAM ROBITAL who after writing PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION (2015) and THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN (2014) makes his directorial debut, will this product give the right chills, thrills and maybe nominations like in Emmy he got?
Finally what’s going to the credit of this movie is the strong franchise base with some hard-core fandom, which always makes it a profitable affair and its been almost a decade. Though to be blunt the quality has not been the same of late.
PITCH PERFECT 3
DIRECTED BY – TRISH SIE who was the lady controlling the STEP UP ALL IN (2014).She is in charge of the quite successful franchise though finding takers in the subcontinent is maybe limited to torrents most of the while. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Chrissie Fit, Kelley Jakle, Shelley Regner, Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins all return and are joined by additions including John Lithgow and Ruby Rose. Pitch Perfect 3 is again produced by Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment and Max Handelman & Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Productions
Finally, this 93 minutes of musical comedy hopefully doesn’t become a haunted hall what with the empty stalls?.
