Preview: 1921, Kaalakaandi, Mukkebaaz to face Hollywood biggies The Post and Downsizing this week.
Hindi films 1921, Kaalakaandi, Mukkebaaz to face Hollywood biggies The Post and Downsizing this week, let’s find out what to choose from the menu.
Again that moment of the week is here when there is a cluster of releases, so much so it’s hard to decide which to watch and which to skip but it’s only for a few that can be counted on finger tips as rest are least bothered to watch not because the movies are not up to the mark, in fact, some have total class if the overall team is the benchmark but only because neither the BOLLYWOOD has anything saleable nor HOLLYWOOD has any SUPER HERO to boost which is the sole criteria for a movie to survive as most even before coming nose dive.
So has any of the new products got any chance leave aside mayhem, just a small impact will be more than what we expect?
Well let’s go solely on today’s trend it’s the era of franchises and remakes be it here or anywhere, so let us begin with keeping that in mind and nothing else?
DIRECTED and WRITTEN BY VIKRAM BHATT under his home banner of Loneranger productions an apt name as he has been the rare guy in Bollywood who still has the confidence that people trust being terrified by the what’s produced in Hindi medium.
What’s going for this 10-year-old franchise is that every time it turns out to be profitable if worldwide collections are the criteria and hopefully for everyone concerned the result goes one notch higher through this 4th installment.
As it always happens the 1st one when released got FAIR reviews from the critics (though who cares about them and that’s the way it should be, in the end, it’s all about watching yourself and decide as a great known brother of mine said).
CAST of ZAREEN KHAN and KARAN KUNDRA, but then it’s never about whose in it, it’s all about how scary is it and we are not talking about performances.
DIRECTED and WRITTEN by AKSHAT VERMA who is making his directorial debut with this DARK COMEDY after penning the delightful DELLY BELLY in 2011 and also THE ODE in 2008.
The director says he takes time to work and that’s why too so many years to Penn his first. Ok, now that’s a good way to do things for some but we only hope that’s it’s worth it and fruitful.
CAST is what really makes this product that when it comes to performances, PANKAJ TRIPATHI, VIJAY RAAZ, DEEPAK DOBRIYAL, AKSHAY OBERIO, NEIL BHOOPLAM, SHENAZ TREASURY, ISHA TALWAR it’s in the safe zone especially when SAIF ALI KHAN is your leading man. Because his movies of late may be a washout but he rarely disappoints.
Purely based on box office, We will not be judgemental about SAIF now, will still wait and watch this year as picture Abhi baaki hai.
DIRECTED by ANURAG KASHYAP now he doesn’t need an introduction but unfortunately, his movies it feels lack the punch, will this strike a chord only time will tell.
CAST of RAJESH TALANG now who is he for mostly? Well slowly and steadily doing roles in PHANTOM (2015) and THE SECOND BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL (2015) wherein former he played Raw agent Alok and Babul in the Hollywood one, at last, got his reward as the lead role and we wish him all the best.
Giving him support are ZOYA HUSSAIN, SHREEDHAR DUBEY, RAVI KISHAN and one of the most underrated yet better than many and worth each penny JIMMY SHERGIL in a pivotal role.
Hollywood: Though look exciting but strictly in American context because such products to find takers here well for that it will take a few more years if not decades as such is the state of social affairs.
PADDINGTON 2 (A new chapter begins)
DIRECTED by PAUL KING is the sequel to the 2014 smash hit animated movie. But will it do any good here is anyone’s guess?
When you have a team of STEVEN SPIELBERG. MERYL STREEP and TOM HANKS you cannot go wrong. But will it have any impact in the subcontinent, it will only if a dinosaur or a space shuttle was added.
But for Hardcore rare’rs it’s a movie they will definitely not miss and we are only talking about Indian context.
DIRECTED and CO-WRITTEN by ALEXANDER PYNE this comedy, drama, sci-fi has a powerhouse of a cast of MATT DAMON and CHRISTOPH WALTZ but will this 135 minutes fill the distributor’s waltz or turn out to be a demon is again anyone’s guess?
