OK Jaanu and Xander Cage fails, Dangal goes past 375 cr.
Last week’s big Hindi release Shaad Ali’s OK Jaanu failed to impress the audiences at the ticket counter and earned only over 17 cr in its first week which says that remaking Tamil hits are not going to work at all with young actors. The soul of Mani Ratnam’s film in Tamil is clearly missing in Hindi and it seems everything is a formality on screen, certainly to get back the attention of the film lovers back in the romantic films is very important now. The movie is not going to touch even 25 cr mark in its lifetime run and this proves that it is a resounding flop.
Other big Hollywood release which got a large number of screens in India is XXX: The Return of Xander Cage which marked the debut of Deepika Padukone in American films also failed to do much at the box office despite its big time promotional stunts. It fetched around 25 cr in week one and turned out to be a flop while the movie is opening in the USA today. Another small budget release, Nawazuddin Siddiqui starter Haramkhor became a mega disaster which managed to earn only over 1 cr in the first week.
Aamir Khan’s Dangal after becoming the milestone film in the history of Indian cinemas still continued to create new records in its 4th week too by registering the 2nd highest 4th week total ever after 3 idiots beating PK. Week and day wise break up of collections are as follows;
Week one – 197.54 cr
Week Two – 115.96 cr
Week Three – 46.35 cr
Week Four – 15.08 cr
The fourth week break up;
Fri – 1.94 cr
Sat – 4.06 cr
Sun – 4.24 cr
Mon – 1.37 cr
Tue – 1.27 cr
Wed – 1.16 cr
Thu – 1.04 cr
Total – 374.95 cr nett (All Versions)
Today the movie crossed 375 cr and became the 1st film ever to do so, Dangal is looking to finish over 382 cr at least and the appreciation it has got will be tough to match in near future.
In overseas also the movie has made a whopping $29 Million USD (197.58 cr) and became only the 5th film ever to earn over 200 cr in India and $25 Million USD in overseas and 4th Aamir Khan film after 3 idiots. Dhoom:3, PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
