M.S. Dhoni-The Untold Story emerges as a Hit, Captain Cool’s mass fan following helped the film big time.
M.S. Dhoni-The Untold Story emerges as a Hit – Last week’s much-anticipated release M.S. Dhoni-The Untold story had a very good weekend of 66 cr (Hindi, Telegu, and Tamil versions) all thanks to the mass fan following of Captain Cool M.S. Dhoni which gave the film’s opening the much-needed boost. But from Monday onwards the movie started to fall and is clear that it is not received well by the audience. The screenplay of the film is overwritten and fails to engage the viewers is the basic reason behind the film’s failure to capitalize from its strong weekend. The movie is more of a hagiography than a biopic and despite the big weekend, it will not go past 125 cr or else it had the potential to be the next ‘The Jungle Book’ which made 187 cr early this year without any big name only on its content.
Here’s the Day wise break of the first week;
Fri – 21.30 cr
Sat – 20.60 cr
Sun – 24.10 cr
Mon – 8.51 cr
Tue – 7.52 cr
Wed – 6.60 cr
Thu – 5.50 cr
Total – ₹ 94.13 cr nett (Hindi, Tamil and Telegu versions)
The film has recovered its cost and now fetching profits, despite the fall it has secured a Hit status. In addition, it has brought in over $5 Million USD from overseas in the first week too.
Pink added 6 cr more in its tally and now the total stands at 63.89 cr in 3 weeks. The film is a Super Hit and will finish a little over 64 cr nett lifetime, good content oriented films are now finding takers and if any big star supports the project then it is a win-win situation for everyone and the industry in particular.
We’ll back again next Friday with all the weekly box office updates till then stay tuned.
