Kabali had a below Average first week

Kabali (Hindi) is a below average fare grossing around 22 crore nett in week one. This is similar to Rajnikant’s Robot which had a lifetime of 27 crore nett but with six years down the line and the high ticket prices with the higher number of screens it’s seen as a letdown. Telugu and Tamil versions are also running in some north markets and the entire total falls near 28 crore nett. In south India the film has opened huge, like all Rajnikant starters it made new 1st week records but it has to be seen how long its euphoria will run there too as his last major outing Lingaa was an underperformer though Kabali will not make losses to anyone and will emerge safe hit if not an all time south blockbuster.

Madurai is a flop at the box office as it made only 13 cr at the box office in the 1st week despite being a content rich film, it shows how a film without any major star flops irrespective of the content. Even a great classic movie another Irrfan Khan starter Talwar did the only semi-hit business last year,Which was released in a number of screens than Madurai. It shows that the audience needs a salable face to come in the theatre and its high time all big stars should start doing good content driven films or else all good films will keep flopping and mediocre things will continue to run.

#Sultan collected ₹ 15.84 cr in Week 3, taking the 3-week total to ₹ 293.80 crore nett. The drop is more than 70% from last week and it makes difficult for the film to reach 300 crore feat. The movie made all the money in just 9 days and after that, it’s a struggle only for it on the box office. Third-week collections are not in all time top 7, and despite competition with the huge north monster in the form of Baahubali than Kabaali last year Bajrangi Bhaijaan made double than Sultan in the 3rd week Forget about comparing it with top 3rd-week grosser of all time PK and 3 idiots. While in Overseas the Tamil and Telugu Versions of Kabali rocked big time Sultan added $1.44 Million USD in the 3rd week to take its total to $23.09 Million USD (154.10 crores)

Great Grand Masti is nowhere seen in the second week and ends up being a disaster.

We’ll be back next week with all the insights of a box office, Stay tuned.
