When the word ‘shit’ looks respectable then be sure you are watching Befikre. I am still cursing myself that why I spent some precious hours of my life inside a dark auditorium watching this potty, sorry to insult it because the movie is even more pathetic than the potty. Watching this movie is a dare in itself man. Aditya Chopra, what have you done to yourself? DDLJ, Mohabbatien, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and now Befikre? How can you stoop so low? I don’t find his previous three directorial films great either but to be honest, those films are watchable with some values in it, however, Befikre is harmful big time. There is a concept called ‘Timepass’ film but this is a ‘Time waste’ film. I think Aditya Chopra after the demise of his father Yash Chopra has lost the right guidance and now he has misdirected, misproduced and miswritten Befikre, on the first place this story is told three thousand times before at least and the screenplay by Chopra again is nicely constructed for the ‘Tharkis’ of India only. This is a third-grade Rom-com and we have seen some fine romcoms way back already in the form of Hum Tum, Cocktail, Salaam Namaste etcetera some of which came out from Chopra’s banner, then why to make this unbaked ugly film as a director? ‘Neil and Nikki’ which I hated now looks ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ in front Befikre, actually, this is not a film, it is a question which I want to ask from Mr. Chopra that is; WHY? Why mere Bhai?
The movie at one time looked never ending torture but I cannot blame the Editing of Namrata Rao because there was nothing to edit, the movie is nor overwritten neither underwritten, sorry nothing has been written actually. If this according to Chopra is bold then what is his definition of ‘cheap’? Both the lead actors try hard to play their respective characters of Dharam Gulati and Shyra Gill but fail miserably. The parts are underdeveloped and there is no connect, they ended up looking dirty. Ranveer Singh irritates you to the hilt and unnecessarily flashes his butts too once; sorry this is a bold film, right Mr. Chopra? While Vaani Kapoor falls completely flat on the screen and I don’t know what has happened to her face? The reaction of some plastic surgery I guess has made her suffer in delivering dialogues also. Only good thing about this movie is the locations of Paris, though even that looked dull to me in this crap. Songs are average and very badly timed which makes this ill-treated film even more repulsive. Its high time Indian Filmmakers should take a break from the romantic genre and give us some respite, all in all, Befikre leaves you cringing, stay away from it.
