Strenghts – 1st half, srk’s performance
Weak – 2nd half especially the absurd creation of situations, OK it’s a commercial film but you can’t make two diverse half’s especially when 1st is realistic and almost class.
Word of mouth – Here is where SRK should be worried, despite getting appreciation, SRK doing HAPPY NEW YEAR and DILWALE resulted in damage being done as people lost confidence.
The youngistaan who were in early 10ns during CHAK DE INDIA now in late teens and early 20’s, have been dished with the worst of SRK years in terms of movies so to get back the confidence of multiplexes, it’s going to be a tough task especially when people are spoilt for choices and rising of new stars(Ranbir, Ranveer, Varina, Siddharth) and already going strong old guard especially his khan counterparts SALMAN and AAMIR.
GYAN DARBAR’s disecting of Box Office report and final Verdict as per what happened.
Shahrukh Khan movie Fan’s lifetime collection in India has ended its run at Rs 85.25 crore. The highlights of its earnings include an Opening Day collection of Rs 19.20 crore, Opening Weekend collection of Rs 52.35 crore and End of Week 1 collection of Rs 71.50 crore. Clearly this will not be counted as one of SRK’s outstanding movies as it even failed to enter the Rs 100 cr club forget about making a hit. Made on a budget of Rs 105 cr (Cost of Production Rs. 85 cr + Print & Publicity Rs. 20 cr) Fan released across 4600+ screens worldwide (India Screen Count – 3500+ International Screen Count – 1100+) the satellite rights of Fan were pre-sold to Sony Entertainment Television while other rights were exploited by YRF worldwide. This is Shah Rukh Khan’s 1st major flop in 6 years after Billu though Ra.one was an average affair while depite being a huge hit in overseas My Name is Khan also was an average grosser in India. SRK is on sticky wicket now as he is unsure of what kind film to do as his every commercial port boilers also underperformed in recent times except Chennai express and now experimental Fan also flopped.
How ironic here is the situation where SRK dialogue of BAAZIGAR is apt “HAAR KE JEETNE WAALE KO BAAZIGAR KHETE HAIN” . Hopefully though SRK has lost some of his FANHOOD but won hearts of many with his performance and all is not lost? Hmmm
