Dangal is on the way to be a Historical Blockbuster.
Dangal is on the way to be a Historical Blockbuster: Indian Box office is happy again as Aamir Khan starrer Dangal has created many historic records in week one of its release, with every Aamir Khan film people within and outside the industry hope for quality and quantity both and the megastar has again delivered with Dangal. His last release PK which came two years back is still all time grosser of Indian cinema history and in last 24 months, no film even came close to it except Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The way Dangal has started its run it looks set to dethrone all-time grosser tag of PK by the end of 17th or 18th-day business. Word of mouth of the film is extraordinary and without thinking a second I can say that its the best in last 7 years. The Movie made 106.95 cr in the weekend and closed the first week at 197.53 cr nett including Tamil and Telugu versions. This with or without keeping the demonetization factor is exemplary and historic, in the normal scenario it would have made over 200 cr in a week only despite having just one holiday which shows people of all sections have loved the film immensely. The movie also created the record of the highest collection in a single day on Sunday which was Christmas by registering 42.41 cr and also holds the distinction of collecting over 20 cr for 7 consecutive days. Each and every aspect of the film is getting immense acclaim and further consolidates the fact that Aamir Khan is the biggest artist in the country right now and has the trust of the nation with him. Here is the day-wise breakup;
Fri – 29.78 cr
Sat – 34.82 cr
Sun – 42.41 cr
Mon – 25.69 cr
Tue – 23.09 cr
Wed – 21.46 cr
Thu – 20.29 cr
Total – 197.53 cr nett.
Dangal also took overseas to storm with $16.8 Million USD (114 cr) in week one and now eyeing to touch $25 million USD mark in the days to come. It opened with an all-time best figures for an Indian film in Australia and also looking to collect the most in US/Canada beating the likes of Dhoom 3, PK and 3 idiots. Aamir Khan’s pull and great content have done the trick again.
Befikre on the other hand flopped and is looking to finish around 60 cr as it is almost out from all the theaters across the country and Wajah Tum Ho ended the run after making 9.50 cr which means it is a disaster.
We’ll be back next week with all the updates till then Goodbye and stay tuned for more.
