Dangal becomes the first Indian film to make 1700 Crores worldwide, achieves the unthinkable feat in China.
Aamir Khan and Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal is not looking to settle down so easily as the epic elephantine Blockbuster is setting records after records worldwide. The movie came out last year in Christmas and thrashed all previous records in India and grossed over 500 CR until Bahubali: The Conclusion overtook it and became the numero uno domestically. Dangal, on the other hand, made $30.34 million (204 CR) USD in overseas also in the first phase and later in Taiwan, it made history and is still running from last 68 days, it is expected to earn more than $5 million (33 CR) USD there which is a first for any Indian film. Before releasing in China, Aamir Khan’s monumental blockbuster grossed around 755 CR worldwide and everyone expected it will at least make over $30 Million USD in China considering the huge global stardom Khan has but it surpassed everyone’s expectations and surprisingly the acclaimed film connected so well with the Mainland that it became the 30th highest grossing film of all time in China beating the likes of Titanic, Star Wars, Mission Impossible and Jungle Book etc.
The movie has made $154 million (990 CR) USD in its 27 days of run in China which is monstrous and unthinkable and an achievement which is more valuable than any domestic feat because we expect our films to break barriers in India but the kind of response Dangal has got outside India is undefinable in words and we are falling short of adjectives to explain this success. This is a kind of run which only Hollywood films had so far and now seeing an Indian film doing the same is more than overwhelming. In overseas it has done a business of $189 million (1225 CR) USD, now this is something which nobody even dreamt of in India till the phenomenon called Dangal happened. The worldwide gross of the film now stands at staggering 1745 CR and has become the first film to do so and also emerged as the highest grossing Indian film worldwide again. We wish the film to create new benchmarks in future also as it is still running strongly in China and yet to release in Japan, Hong Kong, and South America.
