Aamir Khan and Nitesh Tiwari’s milestone blockbuster Dangal continues to create more and more records even in its 5th week. The movie has registered the 2nd highest 5th-week collections of all time and is only behind 3 idiots which in itself is one of the greatest hits of all time and had the fifth-week collections of 9.92 cr. The week wise collections breakup of Dangal are as follows;
Week one – 197.54 cr
Week Two – 115.96 cr
Week Three – 46.35 cr
Week Four – 15.08 cr
Week Five – 08.95 cr
Total – 383.88 cr nett (All Versions)
In India, Dangal is looking to finish a little over a humongous figure of 386 cr in its lifetime run which will be a tough ask for any film in near future to touch. Meanwhile, worldwide Dangal became only the second film in the history to gross over 700 cr which only next to PK, another Aaamir Khan starrer which made many monumental records in 2014/15. In overseas Dangal crossed $30 million USD (204.60 cr) mark in 5 weeks and became only the third film ever to cross the $30 million feat after Dhoom:3 and PK, all three are Aamir Khan films.
OK Jaanu is a resounding flop and almost ended its run on 25th January with a meager collection of 22.45 cr while XXX: The Return Of Xander Cage made around 35 cr in its run in India which makes it a losing film. On 25th two new big movies released mid-week pitted against each other, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil.
While Shah Rukh Khan and Rahul Dholakia’s Raaes got a far better start on day one with a figure of 20.42 cr, Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Gupta’s Raaes only managed around 9 cr on day one. Next day being the Republic day holiday both films had jumps in their numbers and because Kaabil had a very week first day it registered a growth of almost 100% and Raees managed 30%. The coming days will decided where these two films are headed to but surely Raees will be a bigger hit. Full extended 9 days report will be out on next Thursday, stay tuned for more.
