Box Office: Uri – The Surgical Strike and Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi begins the year with a bang.
Box Office: Uri – The Surgical Strike and Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi begins the year with a bang for the Indian Hindi film industry as both the films collected huge numbers at the ticket window in Republic day weekend.
Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi
The weekend collections of Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi are as follows.
Friday – 8,75,00,000
Saturday – 18,15,00,000 CR
Sunday – 15,75,00,000 CR
TOTAL – 42,55,00,000 CR
The movie has also made a little over $1 million USD in the overseas markets, the overall start of the movie is very positive but the Monday business is crucial for the film and it cannot afford to have that normal 50% drop from day one and the hope will be that places like Delhi / UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan, CP Berar, and CI hold up strongly on Monday and have a steady run for a couple of weeks.
Uri – The Surgical Strike
Uri – The Surgical Strike had an excellent third weekend with collections of 23 crore net plus which has taken the business of the film to over 157 crore net in 17 days. The film saw on a drop on the third Friday as compared to the previous Friday but the national holiday gave it a huge boost on the third Saturday. The third weekend is the fourth highest ever after Bahubali – The Conclusion, Dangal, and PK. The success of the film will definitely boost BJP’s chances of winning yet another central elections as cinema is a very popular medium. The movie gave the party what it wanted. The film still has chances to reach the 200 crore net mark although it will be a long shot. The film has only dropped 37% this weekend despite the competition from two major releases in the form of Manikarnika and Thackeray (which is a washout at the box office). The next two weeks will see much weaker which gives it a chance of lesser falls and even if it was to fall in the same range as the third weekend it will still have a shot at 200 crore net.
Last year also ended with a splash at the box office with Simmba and the trend is continuing this year too and we hope it will remain like this throughout the year.
