Box Office: Bollywood gets 5 Smash Hits in first three months, Baaghi 2 is breaking records.
Bollywood gets 5 Smash Hits in first three months, Baaghi 2 is breaking records and nearing towards 100 CR mark, in just five days it has made around 96 CR at the domestic markets. Tiger Shroff has emerged as the hero of the masses for young brigade like once Salman Khan was and is still persisting in the same action Masala genre.
The first quarter of 2018 has brought abundant cheer for the industry. Padmaavat, which courted controversies and braved agitations and protests, proved a money spinner and earned around 302 CR at the box office to emerge as a blockbuster. Subsequently, Padman became an average affair with collections of 82 CR and Raid which is still going strong with over 98 CR total, on the verge of being yet another 100 CR film for Devgn, both Raid and Padman starring A-listers, kept the optimism alive and their investors smiling. However, it was the remarkable business of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that raised eyebrows, the small budget film became a huge blockbuster with a staggering total of 108 CR and it is still running at many places proving every prediction wrong. Here was a film that didn’t carry the baggage of huge expectations, but its stupendous business was truly an eye-opener. More recently, Hichki, which marks Rani Mukerji’s return to movies after a hiatus, has proved a success story with a total of 37 CR so far telling us loud and clear that content is here to rule.
Now Baaghi 2 has left the industry shocked, Baaghi 2 has not only proved that Tiger Shroff rides the success of the franchise solely on his shoulders but it also showcases his immense popularity as an action star. Baaghi 2 is just not slowing down at all and that is actually pretty much on the expected lines too. When the film held on so well on Monday too, it was a given that now there would be consistent footfalls right through the weekdays. This is what happened on Tuesday as Rs. 10.60 crore more came in. A double-digit score on weekdays too is a testimony to the fact that the film has been accepted well by the audiences and word of mouth is largely positive too. Masses are loving what Tiger Shroff has to offer to them and this is what’s resulting in repeat watch too for many patrons. Standing at Rs. 95.80 crores currently, the film has done in just five days what could well have been its lifetime total as per predictions before release. The film is on for a wonderful haul now and today is going to be special for Tiger Shroff since he would be debuting in the Rs. 100 Crore Club. All in all, it is the victory of Bollywood as a whole.
