Amidst of all the fake figures and manipulations, Raees is a success and Kaabil ends up being an average affair.
Last week for Indian box office was very ordinary and to make it even worse Red Chillies Entertainment and Filmkraft productions, in particular, gave fake numbers to show that their films are still attracting many across the nation. The entire trade of India, which is not at all credible reported different numbers, some to be relevant and some to butter the shattered egos of the respective production houses. The business of cinema became a laughing stock last week just because of it. And for the record, it is not the first time that Rakesh Roshan’s production house has done it, we all remember the biggest manipulations of all time they did during the time of Krrish 3. And in fact, many film producers do such things minorly but we don’t understand the point of doing it because at the end we all get to know the reality as the truth always prevail. The funda to show hiked numbers may give you some more audiences because most of the lay people of India believes in what the media reports but it’ll not make an average film into a good one and ultimately it cannot produce results because actually no one’s watching your film as the interest from your product dies after a week because of the content. We desperately need something like Rentrak or Box Office Mojo to track the business of our films accurately and even they are ready to do it but producers like Rakesh Roshan and many others don’t want it in India because they want to continue this useless practice to make their dying films crawl at the box office. A few years back Aamir Khan and Raj Kumar Hirani brought Rentrak in India and all their films are monitored by it, we need more such people in the Industry.
Well, coming back to Raees which gave true box office figures for a week also hiked the numbers just to be ahead of Kaabil because Rakesh Roshan was hell bent to sell lies that Kaabil outshined the rival both at the box office and qualitatively, which is not the reality. Raees has so far made 131.50 cr in 16 days in India, this data is something which our team tried hard to track to be authentic while Kaabil has made 85.02 cr in 16 days, (We can’t say whether it is exactly true or not) we did our best to find the real numbers. Both films will maximum add another 4-5 cr in the total tally and will end their lifetime run at around 136 cr and 90 cr respectively. Raees is a success, all thanks to the fantastic opening and Kaabil is nothing more than an average affair though some sites have declared it as year’s first super hit which is nothing less than a bad joke. In overseas also Raees has made around $13.50 Million USD so far while Kaabil which is about to end its run outside India has made only $5 Million USD.
While the biggest blockbuster of Hindi cinema, Dangal in its 7th week made 1.02 cr and taken its total to 386.68 cr which is just mind boggling and after completing 50 days across India it is still looking to add one more crore to the final tally of its massive collections.
