The Big Diwali clash week finally ended not exactly the way people expected from it but certainly not very badly too. Karan Johar’s saga of unrequited love Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clearly won the race in the first week over Ajay Devgn’s Family action emotion drama Shivaay. The opening weekend which fell in the pre diwali and diwali period gave Ae Dil a start of 35.60 cr in 3 days while Shivaay had a weekend of 28 cr only. The collections for both the films did picked up on the 4th day which was a massive holiday and proved that Diwali is the best period to release a film as from last many years now movies with even rejected content made over 100 cr easily and the time is not far when a film with content will make gigantic records on diwali. Both Shivaay and Ae Dil are not widely accepted, Ajay devgn’s movie is doing well only in single screens while Ranbir-Anushka starrer is much better in multiplexs. Now that the initial buzz of both films have ended, second weekend will give us the clear picture where these two films will end.
The break up of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s 1st week are as follows:
Fri – 13.30 cr
Sat – 13.10 cr
Sun – 9.20 cr
Mon – 17.75 cr
Tue – 13.03 cr
Wed – 7.63 cr
Thu – 6.18 cr
Total: 80.19 cr nett.
In addition to that Ae Dil has made $8.2 Million USD in overseas which is huge and is looking to go over $15 Million mark in the weeks to come.
The first week break up Shivaay are as follows:
Fri – 10.24 cr
Sat – 10.06 cr
Sun – 8.26 cr
Mon – 17.35 cr
Tue – 11.05 cr
Wed – 7.40 cr
Thu – 6.05 cr
Total: 70.41 cr nett.
Shivaay is a non starter in overseas and might not even touch $5 Million USD mark in its life time run.
