Vikash Bahl the man who gave us ‘Queen’ the previous year has come again with his new movie , the highly anticipated ‘Shaandaar’ starring the very cute Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor who won the accolades and awards last year for his ‘Haider’ .

Well let’s start with what works for this movie; which is quite a lot trust me. The fresh pairing of Shahid and Alia both playing insomniacs (a condition in which one finds it difficult to sleep) in the movie, both look great together and its a treat to watch them have a great time during the nights, their chemistry is the high-point of this film. Pankaj Kapoor is a gem of an actor we all know and in Shaandaar he plays the father of Alia and is quite protective about his daughter and hence doesn’t like it when Shahid comes close to her. Its a triangle of sorts between Shahid-Alia and Pankaj Kapoor. The trio will make you go ‘Awww’.

The songs are very Catchy specially Gulabo and Shaam Shandaar. Nazdikeeyan is very soulfully sung by Neeti Mohan and Nikhil Paul George. Neend na mujhko aaye is another sweet number, full marks to Amit Trivedi.

Sanah kapoor has made an impressive debut.the supporting cast has done a good job be it Sanjay Kapoor or Shushma Seth they all have played their parts well.

Shaandaar is about the emancipation of women in the most entertaining way. It tells us its okay to be plus size as long as you are comfortable in your skin.

I particularly liked the animation part , its cute and makes for an amazing watching experience.

Now to what doesn’t work for Shaandaar- Well its quite difficult for me to point out what doesn’t work for Shaandaar because it did work for me but still i have to write something else it will seem like a paid review. To start with, Shaandaar doesn’t have a story, its more about moments. Its not for those who prefer high octane action and melodrama. Its not for the masses as there is no item number or heavy duty dialogues. Its more of an experiment on Vikash Bahl’s part.

Go for Shaandaar if you want to have a great time this festive season.
